HPC Lab in Sofia Science Festival

Prof. Proykova, head of the HPC Lab, will give a talk during the annual installment of the Sofia Science Festival. The lecture is titled “Nanotechnology for Health” and will be given on the 11th of May.

Sofia Science Festival will be held between the 10th and the 13th of May on the territory of Sofia Tech Park.

The overall objective of the conference has been to, explore and discuss a concrete set of actions to foster sustainability and impact of European research infrastructures on industry, policy and society. The outcome of this high-level event helped to identify the priority actions, forming an initial backbone of the Action Plan on Long-term sustainability of Research Infrastructures and providing the impetus for full realisation of the potential of the European Research Area in order to further boost broad-based research and innovation. The conference fostered long-term competitiveness and excellence of the RIs in Europe and world-wide.

The session
Research Infrastructures Challenges beyond 2020
was completed with inspirational speech “The impact of electronic infrastructures on the young scientist’s career: freedom to choose” by Ivo Iliev (PhD student, supporting industry to implement high performance computing at the HPC laboratory in Sofia Park) and Yavor Papazov (Technical manager, CyResLab)

HPC Lab in Project GATE

The HPC-lab has been identified as a partner in the project GATE (Big Data for Smart Society , Project ID: 763566).
The general objective of GATE is to establish Centre of Excellence on “Big Data for Smart Society – GATE” that will fulfill the vision of Open Innovation through building a sustainable University-Government-Industry-Society ecosystem. The CoE will be established as joint initiative between Sofia University – the most prestigious educational and scientific hub in Bulgaria and Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
